Here’s an excellent article by Graham Rigby, President of American Herbal Products Association, on the impact of tariffs on the U.S. herb supply, which is predominantly imported:

This is not a “future potential” issue anymore. It’s already happened. Many suppliers and manufacturers have already seen the impact first-hand:
💯Costs going way up, then a little down, then back up and then, who knows…
💯Imports cancelled or restricted by overseas suppliers.
💯Long-planned export deals scrapped with inventory sitting in a warehouse unsold.
💯Material en route to the U.S. diverted to another country.
💯New product development projects put on the back burner.
If only we could plan for a specific tariff rate, then we could make decisions on how to move forward.
But for five months now, we’ve been frozen in this heavy limbo of apocalyptic uncertainty.
The American Herbal Products Association (AHPA) is on top of these significant domestic and global issues affecting industry, and ultimately American business and consumers.
If you don’t want your favorite herb supply to double in price and fail on quality, then you’re now either on the bus — or thumbing it on the roadside.
